We’ve been busy baking this week with Aldi Uk – Halloween cupcakes for the kids and gooey chocolate brownies for the grown ups! Finley really enjoys making cakes, I usually go with those pre-made cake mix packets just to limit the chaos and egg splatter but this time I fully committed and it actually worked out really well!

We made a mini Vlog of our Halloween cake making and our recipes are below.

Halloween Cupcakes (makes 12)

100g caster sugar

100g butter

2 eggs, beaten

1tsp vanilla extract

100g self raising flour

2 tbsp milk

For the Gruesome Green Topping

Large packet of white chocolate buttons

1 tsp of butter

Green food colouring

Chocolate Eyeballs from Aldi

What We Did

Pre-heat the oven to 180C

Cream the sugar and butter together

Stir in the vanilla extract and beat in the eggs

Fold in the flour, adding the milk if too stiff

Spoon into your cases and bake for 10 to 15 minutes

For gods sake let them cool before you attempt the toppings, even if your kid is whining about it every five seconds

Then melt your white chocolate in the microwave (you can do this properly on the hob with boiling water but I couldn’t be bothered)

Just add a bit of butter to keep the consistency and stir in your food colouring towards the end of heating

Spread on top of cakes and let your kids stick the eyeballs in

Gooey Chocolate Brownies

100g butter

250g golden caster sugar

200g dark chocolate

80g plain flour

50g cocoa powder

100g white chocolate

100g milk chocolate

3 large eggs

What We Did

Melt your dark chocolate and butter together in the microwave on a medium heat

Pre-heat oven at 160C

Whilst waiting for it to cool, sift your flour and cocoa powder into a large mixing bowl

Chop your white and milk chocolate into smallish chunks and put to the side

Break your eggs into a separate bowl and whisk in the golden caster sugar. You need the mixture to be thick so we were whisking for a good five minutes.

Pour your melted dark chocolate into the egg and sugar mix and fold together.

Fold in the cocoa flour mix

And then the chocolate chunks

Pour into your pre-prepared and greased square baking tin

Bake for 30 minutes

All our ingredients came from Aldi UK and we used their store chocolate in both recipes.

*This post is a paid advertorial by Aldi UK, but we do really love cakes and licking the bowl.*

Halloween is normally HUGE at our house but we’ve literally just moved (this week) and I can’t dig out all the decorations while still unpacking…so just trick o treating here. 🙁 #StayClassyMama

These look fab! We’ve been baking with the kids this last week too although it’s always better in theory than in reality in our house!! #stayclassymama

haha i love the bit where you say to let it cook before attempting the topping. This is exactly what I do when I bake cakes. And that’s not even when I’m with my toddler. I’m not a natural cook in case you hadn’t noticed LOL #stayclassymama

These look awesome and love that one ingredient is dark chocolate. We may have to try this one soon! We live close to an Aldi so hopefully I can score the same things you did. #StayClassyMama

    Love the clueless gif!
Can’t wait for Ben to get older to do these! Hubby doesn’t have a sweet tooth and I hate baking for only me as I will eat it all! Haha

“Oh honey, you baked.” The GIF made this post for me. The brownies look divine and I’ll be honest, I’d happily east the green horror cakes too. #Stayclassymama
